Bright Yellow for a Winter Day

We were invited to our Son's home Friday evening for some of his Corn Chowder with Crabmeat Soup (He likes to do a bit of "Chef" work. It was delicious.
My daughter-in-law has a Bright Yellow Bowl on her table and had put some of those bright orange Tangerines in it--it looked so attractive.
I had my sketchbook with me so I did a picture of it and decided to post it here for a little bit of color. It was a fun evening and the Soup 'passed the test.' Posted by Picasa

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose?

Last Sunday (Valentine's Day) we went to Mitchell's seafood for Lunch--they were giving
a Rose to each couple that came in. I took mine home and tried to capture it in watercolor--not ever painting (?) a rose before....I had to start somewhere :-)

Guess where?

Are all Romano's Macaroni Grills the same??? We went for dinner with some of our family--and always notice the Stone walls
and the rows of wine bottles on the wall, and our closest Grill always has a bouquet of White Glads on the serving tables that
run down the middle of the restaurant. Tried to capture all this the best I could. My favorite dish is Chicken Scallopini, or if I'm in a
Seafood mood, I like the Honey-glazed Salmon with spinach orzo Pasta :-) Yum!

LONG-LASTING

I still have my $6.00 Pointsettia on my kitchen table :-) So I decided to try and watercolor the little sketch I made of it. (In my new sketchbook, of course.)
That little Pointsettia just didn't drop leaves...and it is keeping the color going. I had several of these around our home for the Christmas Holidays--but this is the only one that survived to February!

New Sketchbooks

I just put together a couple hand-made Sketchbooks. I carefully folded and creased Aquarius II Watercolor paper, then very carefully tore it into the size of pages I wanted (5-1/2 x 7-1/2) and had it put together with a coil (at Staple's). They also made covers
for me with copies of a couple watercolor sketches I did in another book. They enclose these in Plastic, so now I have a
hard cover book.
These are several sketches (done in my book)--one of our table at the Pancake Pantry in TN, the other is a couple in Boyne City, MI; sitting on a park bench overlooking Lake Charlevoix at sunset. I also have an altoids tin box that has about 6 colors of watercolor paint, and a travel brush in my purse. Works for me :-)
