The Red Barn in Winter

We have a historic barn/farm 2 miles down the road from us and it looked so lovely one Sunny Winter morning that my husband took a photo of it--and I decided to watercolor it. This is the painting that is over my mantel in an earlier post (see below). Someday, I may use the picture to put on a Christmas Card?

Christmas Moods

As I was looking thru my Sketchbook--I saw these Christmas Ornaments that were painted several years ago. This will set the stage for Shopping????

Rocking Chair by the Fire

We were visiting Bryce Canyon in Utah and went into the Lodge to keep warm--I think we had a few flurries that day. I had my Sketch Book with me as usual and I took the time to sketch the rocker by the fire-- it gave a warm feeling!

My Family Room Mantle

We were watching TV one night and to keep my hands busy--so I wouldn't feel like I was wasting time watching the tube--I got my sketch book and "did" my mantle. Did I spell it right? or is it Mantel??? Also, that's a 'sketch of a painting' I did over the mantle.

New Note Card

I just put together my leaf paintings to be on a "note card" together. Now I will have to start thinking about snow--since the ground is now covered and my outside pumpkin decor is snow-bound!

ONE MORE AUTUMN SCENE

The colors this year seemed to be more intense than ever--so maybe I overdid it with my pictures--but here is one more. The leaves are all off the trees now and we even have a little snow today.

Mawbry Mill Blue Ridge Parkway

We visited this Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway and have pictures of it in different seasons of the year.I decided to do a painting of it after we arrived home. We were on our way to Blowing Rock, NC. Has anyone heard of the "Mitford Series" of books? They are based on life in this little town and are quite addicting.

Mingus Mill

Another place we love to visit is Mingus Mill which is quite South in the Smokies. I usually get my "Stone Ground Cornmeal" here.

OOh, that cornbread is so good. I'm really on the food kick today.

Maybe it's because I'm being careful how much I eat. :-)

OUR FAVORITE BREAKFAST

This is one of the places we make plans to visit when in Gatlinburg. The pancakes are so good--try the Pecan ones, or the Eggs, Sausage, and Grits with pancakes. You only need one meal on that day.

LEAVES

I'm posting all my leaf watercolor sketches from our recent trip to the Smokie Mtns.

It was beautiful down there.

Color, Color

A couple more leaf sketches

A PANORAMA OF COLOR

I should have posted the third picture down the line as the first one...but here is a photo we took down in the Smokie Mtns. last week. Keep scrolling for sketches. The watercolors were fun to do.

More Leaves

I might as well post all of my leaves, if you're interested--keep scrolling!

A PANORAMA OF LEAVES

We just returned from a week at the Great Smokie Mountians National Park. It was "peak" color! I couldn't stop picking up the pretty leaves, thinking I could make them look pretty good in watercolor. It was fun dropping colors and letting them mix on the wet paper.
