NoteCard Pansies

Well, it has turned cold--at least it's not snowing!  High today was 42'  but the Sun was shining which made it seem warmer.  Tonight there is a "freeze" warning (Cover your plants)  I don't think that includes Pansies...so I'll post my notecard--just in case :-)

My daughter sent this to me--and I think all of us (Michiganders) are thinking the same thing!!!

Last Year's Pansies

I bought a pot of Pansies last Spring (at Kroger's) and they grew just beautifully!  They lasted the whole summer.  Just bought a new pot and put them out on my brick wall.  I couldn't resist getting them since the weather has been so unseasonably warm :-)  BTW, this is last year's journal painting.

My Crocus in Full Bloom

My Crocus Bloomed on Thursday so I went out an sketched it and came inside to watercolor it...we don't have many comfortable places to sit outside yet--it's still "winter" here even though it's 73'
I did go to the Farmer's Market just now and bought a large pot of Pansies for my Brick Wall out front.  Love those cute little faces on the Pansies :-)

Early Spring Plants in my Yard/Garden

We are having some very Spring-like days -- in the 70's etc. and some of the Spring Plants are popping up all over the place so I went out with my pencil and journal and tried to get a few of these down on paper.  They are going to grow quickly if the weather stays warmish.  The Daffodils will bloom in the next few days--they are loaded with buds.  There are lots of buds on the Dogwoods (They full-bloom about Mother's Day in this area.)
My Crocus (which was planted some 22 yrs. ago by our "first owners" and it comes up faithfully every year.  And those Aliums are getting bigger every day.
I have a Squirrel-Stopper Pole and the squirrels have NEVER been able to conquer it!  It has to be 8 to 10 feet from trees, and it works!

Snowed In

I loved the picture that Catherine posted on her blog showing all the snow in their neighborhood...That red House really stood out in all that white and gray! They sure have a ton of snow up there (NW Mich) in Petoskey. Today in SE Michigan, it's 63' and like a Spring Day. But it won't last long, light rain tonight after midnight and only in the low 50's tomorrow--and downhill from there :-)

Yellow Rose in my Journal

Someone sent me a "forwarded message" that had a picture of a yellow rose in it...so since it is the uncolorful time of the year--I sketched/watercolored it to keep me drawing "something." I don't like forwarding messages that you need to send to 10 of your friends so that you will get a slew of them back (like a chain-letter) so I rarely, if ever, send them on. But I liked this rose for a "model."

Buttons Again?

I was having so much fun painting buttons that I decided to add a few more....(on the same page :-) I have quite a collection of buttons from my Mom's Button Box--and it was fun raking thru them. There were some fancier ones, but I'm not sure I could do them justice. These were fun anyway.

Painting Buttons

Tried painting some buttons per Catherine's website :-) I had trouble making them look like the sizes they are. But it's my first attempt at these "little things." Fun to do anyway.
This time of the year when it is so gray, rainy 3 days in a row, and only quick peeks at the sun, we need something colorful to concentrate on.
Saw a couple Chipmunks scurrying around today...the earth must be warming up--we have had a mild winter, not much snow.
My Birthday is this month--and I've celebrated with a "summer day", a "blizzard", and a "rainy day"--we'll see what is in store for the first day of Spring :-) this year.
