I was at a Ladies' Luncheon the other day and the centerpiece was a few twigs and a bird's nest with a little bird in it and some
jellybeans. I got out my (purse-size) sketchbook and quietly sketched as much as I could. When I arrived home, I watercolored it
and added a little birdhouse on a branch. A total reminder of Spring.

Relaxing

One of my favorite things is the Daily Crossword Puzzle with a pot of tea--or alongside breakfast with Coffee. I always need a
pencil with a good eraser. Fun to watercolor it.

Those Early Spring Flowers--love 'em

I just checked the back yard and the Daffodils are up about 5 or 6 inches--Yes! I had watercolored them last year and decided to post right now for inspiration! Also, the Crocuses are showing their leaves through the earth--that is a watercolor of last year's crocus. I saw this picture of Crocus coming through the Snow and thought it made an interesting watercolor. We are having a bit of rain for the past few days and I'm hoping it will make things "green up" a little faster. C'mon Spring!!!!!

Purse-size Sketchbook

When I made my sketchbooks (see below, older posts) I had some watercolor paper left over and decided to make a "purse-size" sketchbook that I could always have at hand...I did that fire hydrant in the snow one time after I had knee replacement and went along for the ride to the grocery store. When my wonderful caregiver husband went in for the groceries, I had my purse-sized pad with me and the only thing I could see other than snow was the fire hydrant. I put it up next to my regular sketchbook just to show the size.
(That's an old blacksmith cabin down in the Smokies.)

Raspberry and Lemon Sorbet

Had a nice dinner at Macaroni Grill Friday evening--we don't usually have a dessert, but the Raspberry and Lemon Sorbet
sounded so refreshing that we "indulged." I walked out of the house in a hurry after preparing to bring my sketchbook, etc. so
I had to come home and do this from memory...
Nice to have a few sunny days here in "downstate" Michigan--we are totally enjoying them :-)

There aren't too many things to paint in the wintertime, so when we went to Mitchell's Seafood for dinner recently, I had my
sketchbook, etc. and doodled this little bit of what was on the table before we ordered. I think all restaurants have the same
salt shakers--painted those a few times :-) The Pepper Grinder was a "first." It was a good dinner!
